OUR HISTORY
This symbol was created by the ancient Chinese people. The outer circle represents the support of “everything”, while the black (ying) and the white (yang) shapes within the circle represent the interaction of everything that ’s happening in the world. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other.
The “Ying” represents dark, passive, downward, cold, gloomy, miserable, and weak. On the other hand, “yang” would be bright, active, upward, hot, joyful, in high spirits, and strong. The shape of the yin and yang sections of the symbol, actually gives you a sense of the continual movement of these yin to yang and yang to yin, causing everything to happen: just as things expand and contract, and temperature changes from hot to cold.
The artists had the concept of the Ying-Yang symbol in mind when they created the logo for Daughters of Zion (DOZ). Dr. Davis, the founder of DOZ, came up with the theme “Turning Scars Into Stars” during the second annual conference.
The outer circle represents GOD, who surrounds, controls, and supports “everything” within it, which is the black (representing the scars) and the white (representing the stars). The black (scars) represents suffering, heartaches, tears, weakness, and dark, gloomy days. On the other hand, the white (stars) represent victory, success, health, joy, strength, and happy days. There is always continual movement within the logo from scars ending with stars all controlled by GOD.
So when you find yourself feeling weak, depressed, and crying all night long due to your circumstances which are on the side of the scars, look at this logo, claim the victory, and KNOW that it won’t be long because GOD is sending the STARS! God will turn your scars into stars.
